How Do Speakers Get Selected for YOW! Conferences?

YOW! speakers are personally invited by our planning committee—there’s no open call for presentations. Instead, we rely on nominations from our community to help us discover exceptional speakers who can share valuable insights and expertise.

We focus on bringing international thought leaders and industry experts to the APAC region—many of whom wouldn’t typically speak in Australia. That said, we also love featuring outstanding local talent to showcase the best of our community.

What Makes a Great YOW! Talk?

We’re looking for intermediate to advanced talks aimed at professionals designing and building modern software products. Sessions run 30–45 minutes and include Q&A.

💡 What we look for: Deep technical expertise, fresh perspectives, and practical insights.

🚫 What we avoid: Sales pitches, promotional talks, political or religious content.

📺 Where talks go: All sessions are recorded and shared on our YouTube channel.

Our Commitment to Independence & Diversity

YOW! is proudly vendor-neutral—our speaker selection is completely independent, and sponsorship has no influence on speaker invitations.

We’re also committed to diversity in both speakers and topics. To keep our lineup fresh and dynamic, we limit repeat speakers to a maximum of two consecutive years, ensuring new voices and ideas take the stage each year.

How Are Speakers Selected?

Our planning committee reviews each nomination based on the speaker’s expertise, experience, and materials. While previous speaking experience is a plus, we also encourage emerging voices to be nominated.
