Brainstorming is important!! Challenging ideas are important!! Agreeing to disagree is important!! None of this can happen if the team is not comfortable with having difficult conversations and if there is no trust between the team members. How can a leader facilitate this culture, where the team can get comfortable to deal with conflicts / have difficult conversations? How can the leader build the trust and understanding between the team members, where the team understands that the conflict is with the idea and not with the person. How can a leader make sure that the meetings / sessions will end up with an outcome, rather than everyone being upset and still no decisions are being made?
